Brit Alex Lynn clinches his first Formula E win in London after a dramatic race

BRIT Alex Lynn won Formula E in his home race, under very controversial circumstances at London ePrix.

Lynn, 27, was the winner of the race after Lucas Di Grassi, the race leader, received a ten-second penalty and then got black flagged.

Di Grassi controversially assumed the lead under the safety vehicle by passing through the pitlane.

Audi's ex-FE champion leapfrogged from ninth place to first, while the rest of cars followed the safety car.

He was able to go faster than the rest of his field because the pit-lane speed limit is only 50 mph. This allowed him to pass Stoffel Vandoorne ahead of the safety car.

Di Grassi ignored the ten second penalty and was black flagged on the final lap by the stewards. This resulted in Nyck de Vries, Mercedes, taking second place and leading the championship. Mitch Evans, Jaguar finishing third.

Lynn finished third in the first race in London, but was on pole for the second. She then won the race the next day.

According to The Londoner, "It's difficult to put into words, but it's as unique as it gets."

"I have never felt anything like it before. FE has been difficult for me so it is very special."

"It's unbelievable that this happened.

After Jake Dennis, BMW's Jake won the first race in the double header, Lynn won his 40th FE race and won Lynn's victory.

Di Grassi was also penalized for failing to stop in the pitlane, adding to the controversy surrounding his move under the safety vehicle.

Audi's garage was located under a bridge. This prevented the live cameras from capturing the Brazilian stopping.

Audi's team principal Alan NcNish ran to the stewards during the race to protest, but he couldn't prove that the car had stopped in the pitlane.

McNish stated that "we have quite a unique circumstance here in lodnon, where the pitlane was quite short and the safety car was unusually slow."

"In reality, it was faster to go down pitlane than the regulations allow.

"Lucas stopped and we were amazed at the time he took, but unfortunately the stewards decided he didn't stop the car enough."
