Lewis Hamilton hits back over ‘hollow’ comments made by Red Bull boss Christian Horner after Max Verstappen crash row

After Christian Horner's comments, LEWIS HAMILTON claims he doesn't have any reason to be 'hollow" about his British Grand Prix win.

Red Bull boss Horner was furious at the Mercedes star after a collision between Hamilton (and Max Verstappen) on the first lap, which sent the Dutchman into a barrier at 180mph.

Christian Horner told Hamilton that he should feel 'hollow" after his win.

The Brit was given a ten second penalty by the Stewards, while the race was halted for 40 minutes to clean up the wreckage.

Hamilton won the race with a late move against Charles Leclerc, Verstappen being taken to hospital.

Horner, 47, expressed his dissatisfaction with the reigning champion of the world to Sky Sports following the 51G crash impact in terms G-force.

He stated: "Max has suffered a 51G collision, Lewis Hamilton is the world champion and he shouldn’t be doing manoeuvres such as that. It's unacceptable.

"Lewis has more than enough experience in this area to understand that it is unacceptable.

"I am very disappointed that a driver his caliber should make such a decision. It was dangerous and it seemed desperate.

"For me, it's a hollow win."

Verstappen slammed Hamilton for his "disrespectful" celebrations in front Silverstone fans while Hamilton was in hospital.

After being told by radio that Verstappen was fine following the shunt, the Mercedes driver didn't know about his rival's situation.

Hamilton insisted that Hamilton was entitled to the victory, having reduced his disadvantage in Formula One to eight points.

Reporters were told by him that it doesn't feel hollow.

"There are 2,000 people who work hard in my team. It's not about me.

I said that this is not what I want in a race. It is important that we all take a step back. I'm sure emotions run high at Red Bull and I know what it feels like to be there.

Hamilton claimed Verstappen and he were both at fault in the first lap incident.

Verstappen was criticized for calling the Red Bull racer, 23-year-old, 'aggressive' and called the Brit to learn from the incident.

He said, "I was quite far up beside him but I could clearly see that he wasn’t going to stop. We collided in the corner.

It's not the way I want it to be, but sometimes these things happen. I hope he is okay.

"I think we can all learn from these experiences. There are rarely incidents that are 100% someone's fault. There are many things we can learn from each other.

Red Bull chief Christian Horner slammed Hamilton for the crash

"Max is probably the most aggressive driver here. In my opinion, he does an excellent job.

"But we must really try to find the best balance between track and track with space and respect among each other so we can keep racing and have great races without colliding."

Hamilton, who was online racially harassed after the race, wrote Verstappen his best wishes in a Sunday night social-media post.
